ABOUT

Aubrey Longley-Cook (he/him) is a Los Angeles based artist who creates hand-stitched embroideries and stop-motion animations. He combines traditional craft-making with new media to transform and reanimate images through stitched abstraction and pixelation.

Longley-Cook’s work has been featured in various publications including the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Journal of Modern Craft, OUT, them, WUSSY, and Art Papers. His work is in numerous international public and private collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art.

He has notably shown work at Craft Contemporary and the LODGE (Los Angeles), the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art (New York), the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles (San Jose), Newport Art Museum (Newport), Textile Center (Minneapolis), Barbara Archer Gallery (Atlanta), and online with peer to space and Pelican Bomb. His work was included in the 2019 British Textile Biennial.

He holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.
